This was a highlight of our time in Lisbon! Fascinating history, beautiful hand painted tiles (the largest collection in Portugal), gorgeous Portugal pink and black marble and breathtaking views from atop are a few of the things you will experience here. A unique gem in...More

I loved this place with lots of history, beautiful titles and architecture. Is huge and you’ll spent at least 1:30 hour. At the top you’ll find a wonderful view of Alfama! The price is pretty fair 5 euros per adult, there are discount for student,...More

This was one of my favorite places I visited in Lisbon. There was just a small entry fee (I think 5 USD) and I barely had enough cash so I almost didn't go in but so glad I did. There are so many beautiful surprises...More

We left visiting the monastery until our last morning in Lisbon. It certainly made a very enjoyable end to our trip. The monastery is one of Portugal's most important buildings, being built as thanksgiving for recovery from the Moors. It was the fact that it...More

5 Euro entrance fee. NOT a crowded place. Plan to spend and hour or more here. Interior photographs are permitted. Very beautiful monastery. Nice views from the rooftop. Difficult to describe.... see photographs.

An oasis in the bustle of Alfama. The attached church is nice. But the monastery is the real treat. Few tourists. You can sit alone in one of the two beautiful cloisters and commune. Or tour the building and its exhibits. Nice rooftop views too

It's not crowded yet very central in Lisbon but many people doesn't know about it. It's full of symbolism for Lisbon but also to the country since you have over there many heads of state buried and some prime ministers. It's also huge and has...More

You can be thankful that most common travel guides
don't mention Graça and São Vicente that often. Part
of Lisbon's historic center and "Old Town", they feel
like independent villages in the capital's center, and
more untouched than Alfama. Amazing views, restaurants
and parks, as well as important monuments like the S.
Vicente Church and the National Pantheon, make this a
spectacular option for those looking for a more

Yes, it will be a climb. Recommend taking Tram 28 at the Praca do Comercio if you have the time (and it's not too crowded) - the 40 min loop will take you right by the Mosteiro.
