The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
How to get there
  • Baixa/Chiado • 3 min walk
  • Rossio • 6 min walk

Nice but buy at local stores with local prices
Nov. 2020 • Friends
Nice shop but the are very expensive you should buy where the locals buy the products specially toothpaste Couto and soups . There are several shops Drogaria central at Rua da Prata or Celeiro Drogaria at rua 1 Dezembro .

Atmospheric store
Nov. 2019
It is a beautiful, atmospheric store in the center of Lisbon. You can find nice, elegant, vintage souvenirs of Portugal. Some of them are expensive but you can also find affordable presents.

Rude clerk
Dec. 2019
I was scolded by a rude male clerk. I was interested in a shaving cream, so I carefully opened the unsealed box to take a look at the container and maybe get a whiff of the scent (there was no tester and it’s expensive). After I removed the cap I noticed the container was sealed so no luck. But as I was closing it, the clerk asked me, with a ton of attitude, if “he could help me”. I said no thanks. He said I should then not open the box. I told him it was unsealed and he said that other people wouldn’t want to buy the product because it was open. It was a ridiculous and baseless argument from his side. And he addressed me like I was 5 years old. I’m freakin 40. He could have been a lot more courteous. This is customer service 101. Nice store, rude clerk.

lots of neat things ... if you don't have time to explore widely, shop here
Oct. 2019
bit out of the way... lots of interesting things but not the variety or range I was expecting. shop has quite a bit of room inside, so it is fairly easy to move around for the most part. prices didn't seem unreasonable.

one stop shop for Portuguese products.
Sep. 2019
what a fabulous place. it was almost closing time but the owner was extremely kind and patient! we were fascinated by the variety of Portuguese products. Soap, cosmetics, ceramic plates and bowls, wooden plates, olive oil in different size tins, sardines and even chocolate sardines in lookalike sardine cans. i could have stayed here for hours. Also suggested by the receptionist at Portugal Ways Culture Guest House!.

Cute shop
Aug. 2019
Stumbled upon this shop on accident. Cute shop full of Portuguese housewares. I’m a sucker for fancy soaps and they have a great selection! This is a great place to get unique little gifts or souvenirs for friends and family (or for yourself!).

Lovely Products of Portugal
Nov. 2018
This was one of my favorite shops while staying in Lisbon, they have 2 in the city - both are worth visiting - good quality items, tourist junk. This one has a greater variety of items, the other has more linens and housewares. I loved both. The clerks were very helpful and generous with their time. I wish I had more room in our luggage to take more of their products home with me.

Terrific prices on artisan goods

I went to the location in the Time Out Markeplace. I found many gifts to take back home, including beautiful fragrant soaps and incredible tablecloths for my home. My very large tablecloth ( 60" x 98" ) was only 25 euros. great value and quality workmanship I'll treasure for years to come.
