It doesn't exist any "Castello Alfama". In fact, the name of the castle is Sao Jorge. It's a castle placed on the top of a hill, the highest point of Lisbon. As castle, it's not very impressive, only some stone walls and a few rectangular...More

The oldest and most traditional neighbourhood in Lisbon, with a maze of cobbled lanes and alleys and steep, gruelling inclines, should certainly be explored as should the castle. But as this listing is a repetition of the main Alfama Trip advisor listing which can be...More

Amazing castle, you have a panoramic view from all the city. It is on the hill, unique beauty and physical environment.

As an elderly traveler, I purchased the discount ticket to Castelo de S. Jorge at the charge of 5 Euro. This castle dominated the whole area of Alfama overlooking the city from above. Many visitors came here to watch the sunset at around 4.30 pm....More

This is a must-see spot in Lisbon, a long hard climb up hill, but it is worth it for the views, the gardens, and the historic site. You can walk along the castle walls.

A spectacular visit to one of Lisbon's oldest attractions. The castle is a bit of an uphill climb, but it's worth the trouble. There is no real need to book in advance as you can buy tickets onsite. We didn't find it very crowded and...More

We spent about 3 hours wandering the grounds and admiring the views of the city. There's a lot to take in and the mix of eras in the archaeology is very interesting. I think a guided tour would've improved the visit, but overall well worth...More

A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site,
Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply
"Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake
construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755
earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its
name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in
Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the
Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the
