This water museum gathers together the history of water supplies in Lisbon since Roman Times. It is only a small building but you get a clear picture of the city's water utility with information about consumption and treatment works. The old pumping machinery from the 19th century is still in place, great machinery with brass work and wood content.

We really enjoyed this small museum. You get a glimpse of the development of water as a public utility in Lisbon, from the Roman times till the present. There's also general information about water consumption and treatment, the environment, etc. Finally, the 19th century pumping equipment is fantastic -- brass, wood, steel, beautifully designed. The real beautiful part of this museum, which I recommend is in Amoreiras. There is very few information how to get there. Mãe de água water very big reservoir is in Amoreiras It aimed to receive and distribute the water provided by the Águas Livres Aqueduct. Inside deserves highlight the water tank with a capacity of 5500 m3 and 7.5... More
