If you're interested in history this is a great spot to visit. Located close to Belem Tower and St Jeronimos monastery it is a short trip from downtown Lisbon. We had a car and included this with a visit to Sintra

Impressive Monument. Great location for pictures. We are glad that we went however, visit the Monastery and the Tower of Belem which are very near to make the trip worth it.

The monument highlights the outstanding people who have made Portugal great. Quite interesting. The museum inside is about 6 euros (when we went) but it explains the faces on the monuments or just google it...

This is a great monument and well worth it to go by the river side to take a look - one of the nicest in Lisbon in my opinion.
