Construction finished. Nice marble feature steps to sit on. Bring your own sundowners, or there are 3 bars to choose from. Mixed crowd.

This lookout area doesn’t give you the best view but you will be able to see the Pte 25 de Abril Bridge from here. Not far from Manteigaria Portuguese pastelería which makes probably the best egg custard tarts in Lisbon. So stop by to try one .

Don't bother, no view

We had read so much about this place and were really excited to see the view from this vantage point. To get there, you have to walk precariously down a very steep hill and then drag yourselves up a dozen exhausting steps (as is the case in much of Lisbon). Once you get there, you will be disappointed to see that there is virtually no vista at all, if you call peeping through a fence blocked by buildings a vista. Don't waste your time.

The viewpoint is being renovated so is blocked off - not worth a trip here until the work is finished and you can enjoy the view.

Views of tagus restricted by a tall fence

The Miradouro de Santa Catarina is on the opposite side of the castle in the Barrio Alto district. It offers views of the Tagus and the Ponte 25 de April suspension bridge. This was a small little park area; because a tall fence was erected it’s very hard to get pictures. Also there were some sketchy people and cops were in the area keeping an eye on them.

Blocked Views

The area is undergoing works and so a lot of it is blocked off, spoiling the view of the city. If you do the Miradouros in a day, then you can add this on (only 10-15 min extra walk) - surrounding area - walking the cobbled streets is worth it - really gives a feel for life in Lisbon.

The miradouro is still inaccessible at present due to ongoing renovation. There are a couple of places where you can sit and have a drink and enjoy the view (in the area) however the miradoura is not one.

Our luck - the place is being renovated and blocked off

So there goes our first miradouro opportunity.
Blocked off with building wireframe racks due to renovation/maintenance/whatever.
Well we cannot be lucky all the time.
There are others.

Nice place to watch the sunset

From the terrace you'll enjoy some unremarkable views of the Tagus river and the bridge. Have a drink at the cafe and enjoy the sunset. You'll notice a stone sculpture. This is a mythical sea monster from the poem "the Lusiads". Other than that there's little to do here. Not far away is the Elevador da Bica. You can take this funicular down and have a bite to eat the "Mercado da Ribeira".

Nice area but no view to speak of

Enjoyed travelling up the Bica escalator - and the streets around this area are very picturesque. However the view is practically non existent as the area is fenced off.
