I'm just writing to say how much we enjoyed the wine tour. The presenters were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic! The place itself was in a lovely location with great vaulted ceilings, not perfect for listening to presentations but it had a great feel to it! All the group gave me very good feedback, so I would like to pass this... More

The place is conceived to allows you to taste different Portuguese wines. You put an amount of money in a card and uses it to taste as many wines the value you put it can buy it. Each wine has a different price and returns you 50ml.

Portuguese wines are varied and delicious and underrated. You can taste samples at this place for 0.50 to 2.50 euros. in 50cl samples. They do have seated tastings but the sampling machine is great. YOu can also buy wine and the staff is helpful.

I really enjoyed the visit to this place. We happened to be passing and decided to pop in. The wines were reasonably priced (we weren't buying so I can't vouch for the bottle prices) and the décor is great with all the bottles on the wall. It was a very pleasant way to spend an hour.

We were recommended by a tour guide to visit this place to learn a bit more about & taste Portuguese wines. The concept is great (as others have described with the charge cards and help yourself to the wine) but I felt it could have been a whole lot better. There is a large map on the wall explaining the... More

This is a good place to go if you are looking to be introduced to Portugal's wines. Unless you have reservations for a determined tasting, you'll be exploring on your own. Plenty of affordable bottles for purchase as well.

Spacious tasting room in city centre. Very reasonable price for tasting and it's good to spend a visit if you are tired of walking around.

This installation gives you the chance in one place to sample the full range of the wines of Portugal, with sherry and port as part of the mix. You get a card, put money on it, and go exploring.with at least 20 available all the time by the glass. Available wines cover Portuguese wine regions, grape varieties, and styles of... More

If you just want to taste some Portuguese wine, it's OK. There are about 12 wines to taste from, from regular vinho verde to Madeira. You charge a card with whatever amount of money you feel like spending, choose the wine from the machine and have a sip (note, you are not there to drink full glasses of wine!). BUT....... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
