- TommoMelbourne, Australia55,910 contributionsNightlife pedestrian Street but formerly had a seedy pastWe accidently walked throughPpink St on our way to Time Out Market. Its known as Rua Nova do Carvalho and is a small pedestrian street. It was previously a gambling dens, had brothels, and seedy bars and criminals use to frequent Since 2013 it became known as Pink St when an urban renewal project painted the pavement between the terraces, bars and clubs in pink. It is one of Lisbon’s hottest destination at night and the centre of Lisbons nightlife. I visited during the day and not night and it was quiet and looked cute in its pink colour and lots of colourful umbrellas overhead.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 February 2024
- Donna MFernandina Beach, Florida46 contributionsPink but not impressiveThe pink and the umbrellas were cool but it was far from city center. Walked uphill steep hill then down. We sat at a bar did not get served. Looks much better in pictures the real experienceVisited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 March 2024
- HolidaymakerfromHoveBrighton and Hove, United Kingdom2,545 contributionsPink Street……………..A recently regenerated area. Road painted pink. Lots of bars. We went early evening. Considering the awful wet weather we had during the day the area had a good atmosphere and a fun, party vibe. I imagine it could be a bit rowdy later in the evening. The umbrellas were very photogenic. Worth a look if in the area.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2024
- TheLeongOhanaUnited States7,505 contributionsPinkWe did the tourist trap and took our selfies on Pink Street and under the multi colored umbrellas. During the early afternoon, there were just a couple restaurants open with just a few guests. The street was very clean as we walked its entire length, roughly 250 meters which seemed to be split half before and after the bridge. Overall if in the area stop by but don’t need to go out of your way unless have to see the pink street.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 April 2024
- Andrew Z354 contributionsInteresting place with it's own lifeThe famous "Pink Street" has it's own life after dark. I guess that's how it was some years ago, and that's how it is now. There are many restaurants, a lot of people and good entertainment. Performers takes "the stage" and if they find someone who follows, than there is a lot of fun for many people. If you are in a mood of having late dinner/glass of wine - go for it. Almost deserted during day.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 April 2024
- Nitin JGurugram (Gurgaon), India202 contributionsParty StreetThe perfect party place where action goes on till late night. It has alley full of bars and pubs. Go and grab a nice local beer and you can sit there for hours also. ThisStreet is always crowded and is a photos hotspot for tourists. - ThilakawathieBrisbane, Australia457 contributionsOver-ratedI am sure this place is vibrant at night but don't bother going during day time to see a small strip of road painted pink and some faded umbrellas! The photos are not what you actually see in the day time. Unless you happen to be steps away from this place I certainly do not recommend a special de-tour to visit pink street.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 May 2024
- dazmcbWitheridge, United Kingdom250 contributionsTicked off the list...Slightly underwhelmed, but can say we have seen it. We sat and had a beer 🍺 and listened to a band that was playing in the street. We were told by the uber driver be very careful off opportunist pick pockets, lots of guys offering drugs in the streetVisited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 May 2024
- Louise PutmanLondon, United Kingdom9 contributionsBeautiful apartment but noisyI brought my mum to Lisbon for her 77th birthday and we were a little disappointed with the location on the edge of Pink Street opposite a building site with the noise of construction workers. The loft apartment is HUGE and we were surprised to find the two bedrooms on different levels separated by an entire full flight of stairs. This did make it difficult for us to interact but perfect for a group of friends or two couples. Despite the soundproofing windows and shutters you can still hear noise of people and music into the early hours. Again maybe not an issue for a younger group but not appropriate for us. We ended up moving into the main hotel which they are linked with in the middle of the night as we were lucky enough that they had some vacancies. From that point on our trip got better and better. Thank you Corpo Santo Hotel. Everyone we encountered at the Corpo Santo hotel was friendly and helpful.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 May 2024
- Verna CRichmond, Texas78 contributionsDon't go out of your wayIt was interesting, but somewhat underwhelming. If you're already in the area, go ahead and make a point to see it, but not worth going out of your way. It was a very short street. We went around 3:00 pm, and not much to see or much going on. Things got more lively in early evening after 5:00.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 5 June 2024

Really lovely atmosphere very vibrant with plenty of bars and restaurants.
It was a bustling area where you can get some great cocktails at good prices especially in happy hour.
Love the colourful umbrellas hanging over the street

Some of the negative reviews of this place just go to show how varied people’s likes and dislikes are!
I really loved this street! Yep, it’s ‘just a street’, but it has great character and an interesting history. Also, visitors no longer have to ‘guess’ it’s pink.
The overhead umbrellas add to the colour palette. The coffee shop beneath the brollies wasn’t yet open or I would have stopped for a cup of java!
I saw no signs whatsoever of drug dealers or any other ‘bad guys’.
Very easy to get there from Cais do Sodré metro. Just cross the main drag, then simply ask someone - preferably a young person, as young people typically know English whereas older folks do not - how to get to Pink Street - far easier than trying to decipher Google maps. Or, if you have GPS, use that.

I think you have to be quite a bit younger than me to enjoy this busy nightlife district full of bars. Lots of young people from around the world drinking fast quantities of cheap beer. Very loud and goes on until late at night, so be sure to not rent an apartment near here.

You don’t come to Lisbon with intentions of hanging out on Pink Street for very long, but it’s worth a few minutes of photo ops and artistic appreciation. The street is central to most parts of the city, and dozens of restaurants, shops, and nightlife spots are in the immediate vicinity. When I visited, the street wasn’t crowded at all, and I felt safe. A few corners had construction scaffolding in place here and there, but nothing which detracted much from the overall vibe.
Enjoy!

This place gets very busy at night when young people come here to drink very cheap beer. They wander around, strolling among the many bars and tacky food places. It's not very pretty, and even uglier in the day. But lively and fun for kids.

When planning where to go and what to see Pink Street was on every list so we went to check it out. It was very disappointing. It’s nothing special and clearly the pictures on social media are filtered to make it look better. Check it out for yourself but best to lower your expectations.

This place is famous for bars and carousing, especially on weekends when it is full of Northern Europeans who have flown here on cheap flights. The beer is very cheap and folks are very drunk. So if this is your scene, have at it. Otherwise, steer clear. Just a few blocks away this are fun and pleasant.

A fun little area to stop for a drink. I don't think I'd stay longer than a drink or two. It is fun to people watch. If you want your own photo op, expect to wait. At least two different people showed up dressed to match the street and have their Instagram moment. If you want a good photo, show up in the morning and maybe during the week before crowds arrive to take pictures.

One of a kind, Pink Street is located a few blocks from the Cais do Sodre metro stop. It is also just a few blocks away from Lisbon’s famous Time Out Market. The Portuguese call this street, “Rua Cor de Rosa” i.e. Pink Street.
For centuries this area was known for its brothels, gambling and drinking—mainly for the sailors that would dock close by. Recently, as of 2011, this street was transformed into everything “pink.” It is now known for having some of Lisbon’s best bars and sought-after nightlife other than being a refuge for what it was.
We walked through the area one March afternoon. Yes, indeed, the color pink is everywhere. Someone had this unique idea of changing the scene as well as the color.
Actually, there really isn’t anything to compare this street to in Europe or even the United States. It isn’t a long street, but definitely something you will never forget. You have not seen all of Lisbon, until you take a walk along “Pink Street.”

Having read all the reviews we decided we would visit ourselves and form our own opinion.
I'm sorry to say that we have to agree with the poor reviews.
The Pink Street itself needs a paint, the umbrellas are literally just umbrellas suspended across the street, nothing special, mid afternoon nothing was open on the actual street.
It was very busy, lots of people taking photos.
We went on our way to another spot, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.
