Located close to our hotel is the Estrela Basilica and tram 28 stops directly outside. The church is much larger than we thought with a very large dome which you can climb to.

This is a beautiful, large church with a scenic view. You might want to take more time and go up as well as in the back of the church to see the figurines.

Be sure to go to the back to visit the nativity which is enormous and filled with over 500 figures. Be sure to bring a small flashlight to see all the figures depicting everyday life that populate the far sides and back of the display....More

Well, a beautiful church. It is common that if you reach the church before the sun goes down, you can reach the top through a lift (paying a ticket) in order to see the view also from that side of Lisbon.

It's a lovely church, very nice interior both central nave and chapels. If you do go, there's a nice park across the street with great outdoor eatery.

The basilica was close to our hotel and we didn’t visit it on previous journeys to Lisbon. We were pleasantly surprised by its beautiful giant dome and twin bell towers. But, the best part was climbing the stairs to enjoy the spectacular view from its...More

My wife and I visited the basilica on a weekday in early April. The basilica is nice on the inside but the real attraction is the roof-top views. We paid €3/$3.17 per person to climb the circular stairs to the roof. It was nice to...More
