Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In 1789 this basilica was consecrated, it was the first church in the world to be dedicated to the heart of Jesus.
It took a decade to complete. The room behind the tomb of the founder houses a magnificent nativity scene.
A wonderful place to sit, reflect and be mindful.

Basilica de Estrela can be seen from far away from many vantage points in Lisbon, with its white facade end two bell towers. Taking tram 28 there from Chîado is the best way of getting there. The interior is - well - nothing much special, and a quick stop is enough.

I was in Lisbon with my partner and his sister along with her family August 2022. It was our 3rd stop off on our European cruise and we were doing a little bit of exploring and found this church. I’m not religious in the traditional sense but I do like to look at some places of worship as they’re usually architecturally nice to see. There was no fee to enter and it was nice to get out from the heat outside. There were a fair few people inside and it was nice to look around and light a candle if you wanted. A nice building to visit.

This place was so beautiful and way more than expected! We arrived at around 1030am on a Saturday in late June and went straight up the narrow staircase to to the top for 4€ and had the place to ourselves! Views were exceptional
Including the ones from the dome down onto the church. We were allowed to sit and view a christening and felt very special gatecrashers! Park across the road is nice and relaxed and tram 28 goes from right outside.

This is a lovely church that is in need of a clean on it's exterior. However, inside it has a sublime altar with a large mural and white winged angels. There is a fantastic dome and a wonderful painted ceiling with mural down each side of it's aisles.

This church of Sacred Heart of Jesus is opposite nice park Jardim da Estrela, entry is free. Next to it was built convent for Barefoot Carmelites by the order of the Queen. You can go up to the roof but I had bad knee so we didn't. I loved the interior, especially ceiling and colour tone of the walls. The dome in the basilica allows light to come in this church is not so dark as the others.

Beautiful church. Go up on the roof as the views are amazing. You can also Walk round the dome of the church. It is like the whispering Gallery in St Pauls Cathedral, London. Only 4 Euros to go up to roof, free to enter church.

It's a bit far from the main attractions of Lisboa, but if you're in the area by any chance, perhaps to visit Casa Fernardo Pessoa, it's a very wonderful looking church, so feel free to walk inside and see it!
