Modeled after Milan's Teatro alla Scala but smaller, this is where the opera lovers come to many times during the year. Not a major opera venue, but a respected one.

The theatre is located in the historical center of Lisbon, in the Chiado district.. Interior is fabulous, architectural inspiration is the great Italian theatres

One evening we stopped at the Restaurante Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos and had dinner below the theatre. The restaurant has an Italian and Portuguese flare with wonderful food and service. We ate outside at one of the many tables facing the Sao Carlos square....More
