My only regret is that I showed up to the museum two hours before it closed. I definitely needed more time here. For six euros per adult, I could have spent all day here with a break at the cafe to enjoy an espresso. The...More
I would have rated this museum higher but there is no audio guide available. It has a fine collection and is a very beautiful building but without the audio guide it was hard to appreciate it to its fullest. Seeing the H Bosch visit was...More
We decided to walk to this but got stuck the other side of the railway line which runs along the riverfront. Eventually found a footbridge and after a little while found the museum in a very quiet street. No queues which was a bonus.
I was surprised how many important pieces this museum holds. Not crowded and in a lovely neighborhood with some excellent restaurants. The gardens and terrace are lovely and the special collections always interesting.
A very fine collection with some stand out hits that make it a special place to visit

Bosch, Durer, Cranach and many more - so many gems at a comparatively small place. You can see them all at once, national and international superstars of arts. And have a coffee in the palace garden - it's just lovely.
I did love the place.

There is not really a good location for picnicking nearby. There is a small grassy area in front of the museum but that is about it. I did not remember seeing any picnic tables, but possibly there are a couple benches along the walkway. The surrounding area is all covered with apartment buildings or businesses.
