If steeps hills are a difficulty go up in the funicular. Pleasant area to wonder around with many shops and restaurants. There are also some wonderful views from the small park where the funicular stops. See also a couple of convents and some lovely churches.

We stayed in a refurbished apartment and it was just fantastic. Right in the heart of Lisbon with all the miradouros around. A must visit once in Lisbon :)

You can go there at any night from 9:30 p.m. on, and you'll find lively bars - actually around 300... Half of them close on Monday. It's legal to drink in the streets so there are many people outside. Feels safe.

Beautiful place, full of mystery and intrigue. It seems to overlook the rest of Lisbon with aging eyes. The perfect place to stay and be in walking distance of everything. Great buzz. Lovely trams to rise around and more than enough fine dining, but best of all are the roof top bars and opportunities for people watching and just being... More

This is a great place to walk around and have a good time. It has a very cute and rustic feel. Small alleyways, cool architecture and really fun shops. We walked around for about an hour, shopped a little.

Good restaurants, many with music, are all around this area. Also just a short uphill walk from Chiado. Only negative is the number of smokers, and some places have no non-smoking section.

A good friend recently visited Lisbon and told us of this part of the city. It sounded perfect! Hills, hills and more hills - so square in this section is even flat! Wonderful small restaurants, shops, wine bars and specialty stops with lots of night life. Music playing in the squares, with DJs, singers and bands in clubs. Lots of... More

Quaint streets full of restaurants and bars - expecting a massive tourist flux. A bit dead in low season (winter), most likely mobbed in the summer.
