This attraction is right beside the Tower Of Belem in Lisbon and it is a fort built in the 1780's. Contains Combatant´s Museum, with exhibitions from great war to peace operations. You can enter a trench of great war and see 500 planes all made in scale showing the history of aviation of the XXth century, exhibitions from Navy, Air Force, Army and Security Forces.

knew about the Memorial however I didn't realise this fortification had a museum. We had climbed the Tower of Belem and I spotted the large guns pointing out onto the river, then spotted more military hardware dotted around the site. You buy a ticket at...More

War is not a glorious thing, and this display should show how terrible it can be. Excellent displays of model warplanes, including two that I worked on in the Air Force during Vietnam. Also the life size, realistic dioramas showing what it was like in...More

We went to that museum mostly by chance as we saw it from the top of the Tower of Belem and because of my 10 years old son. It is situated at the riverfront of Tagus River and was used to defend the approach from...More

Our excellent local guide suggested that we should visit the museum and she was right! Located in the old fortress built in the 18th century to defend the port and the city, the exhibition shows Portuguese military involvement during the last century. It is very...More

This place charge 4 Euros. I haven't been to military museums (not even sure whether there will ever be a real one just because of the cost). This is a very small display. You would have almost certainly seen a great deal more if you...More

An average military museum, although a tragic story behind the setting up of the old soldiers foundation behind it. Amazing collection of aeroplane kits. I learnt a bit about the civil wars in Africa and a lot about Portugal 's involvement in WW1.

We spent a morning at the museum which was surprisingly empty. There is a lot to see regarding the Portuguese at various wars and a lot of it was in English. There is a lot to see outside so we were lucky to have a...More

Overlooking the mouth of the Tagus this fascinating Museum is worth a visit. A overview of Portugal's military history over the centuries, makes one realise what a small country is capable of.From the days of the colonies until the Salazar regime period.
