Been there a few times. Concerts in the evening time, interesting exhibitions, a really nice bookstore (helps if you know Portuguese :), a really good restaurant. If you visit Belem for pastels de Belem / pastels de nata, it sure is worth to go a bit further and visit the CCB also!

Great permanet exibition of Modern Art. Temporary exibitions. A few shops with very interesting items. Concerts. A nice cafe, where you have a meal, a coffee or just see the magnificent riverside view.

Working in Belem I chanced upon the CCB and was blown away by the Mozart/ Salieri concert given by the Portuguese chamber orchestra. Brace and irreverent with sparkling musicianship. Great restaurant for dining solo. Felt very comfortable. Cool vibe and great choice of Italian or Japanese food all made in front of you. I had a beautiful grilled prawn salad... More

This is a huge complex with a free entrance to a Museum of Modern Art. It is very spacious inside with different exhibitions. Go there if you are really interested in the modern art. It is almost across from the Monastery and next to a beautiful park with a nice fountain. There is also a cafeteria on the side from... More

We have visited the excellent modern art collection in the past, but this was our first opportunity to see a show. We caught Eliane Elias in the Grand Auditorium and were very impressed with the venue. Seats are plush. Sight-lines are clean, and acoustics are bright and clear. Easy in and out. We couldn't ask for more.

We really enjoyed wandering around soaking up this excellent modern art collection away from the tour buses and heat. Well set out in a beautifully designed building.

If you like modern art and architecture you will spend some time in this museum. The art collection is very unique and the temporary exhibitions are also worth a visit - and all that for free! The architecture space is on the other side of the otherwise in itself wonderful building. The exhibition there is also great. Entry fee is... More

Building itself is enormous and wonderful. Modern, looking at Jeronimos monastery. Exhibition and art works inside are amazing. Even for the someone who is not so familiar with artworks, this is going to be interesting. Working hours are up until 6pm, so be careful to come in time to visit and enjoy, not to hurry. Entrance is free! You will... More

I felt very privileged to be viewing such wonderful art by famous artists such as Picasso, Warhol, Miro, Pollock, Koons, and Duchamp. All of the art might not be your cup of tea, but we found we could discuss it even if we didn't like or understand it! The 2 floors exhibiting the art are large spaces. The young wardens... More

Hadn't heard about this modern art museum in the heart of Belem, but was pleasantly surprised to find an interesting collection in a modern space and...100% FREE and not crowded. The collection is arranged into different movements - some familiar (Surrealism), some not so familar (CoBrA). The museum is open a wee bit later than other sights in Belem (until... More
