A nice small forest, of mixed trees, old and young, with decent birdlife. This should be commonplace, instead of the horrible endless young eucalyptus plantations that destroy biodiversity and are a major hazard for the local population (death toll of fires is high in Portugal). I can recommend this forest to everyone who come to Coimbra! It's really amazing place, nature place where you can a bit escape from the city to relax and enjoy your time in natural place. Forest is really various with different plants, but I also liked to visit small village after the Choupal. It is located behind small water channel around the forest. Many ways to walk aronud and feel free :)…

Located on the north western outskirts if the city, Coupal is a wooded area which is mainly very popular with local joggers, but is also pleasant to go for a walk. Not really something that I would put on a tourist itinerary.
