Part of University tour for €12/adult. No verbal tour provided of library, they just let you into the darkened room. Other rooms that are part of tour have laminated pages to read in different languages. Would have expected as a university that they would have...More

It is one of the oldest libraries in Europe and part of Coimbra university. This is managed by the university and not by the cultural department.

This is one of the most ornate old libraries I have seen - outside of a church or a monastery. Taking photos is not allowed inside the library. The books are dating back as far back as to the 12th century! Definitely worth seeing.

This is hands down a beauty and the beast library! Too bad they don’t let you take pics or video... it’s the most beautiful library we’ve ever seen.

This library is amazing. Make sure you include it on your tour of the Universidade - programme 1 for ticket options. Entrance is timed when you purchase your ticket. The library is on the small side but the ornate details are breathtaking.

The university is old and huge with an amazing view and great architecture. Highly Recommended. It might be a bit crowded however.
