This is just in the center of the city and is the most important street. It is a pedestrian street. Obviously a "must".

Still an important point in the city
Jul. 2020
Rua Ferreira Borges is an artery in the city of Coimbra that, despite having had other names over the centuries, still has the same layout since medieval times. It was the first cobbled street in the city. It was the main shopping street for a long time, having the best bookstores, pastry shops, stores, offices and offices. Currently, it is one of the main arteries of Baixa de Coimbra. Connects Largo da Portagem to Rua Visconde da Luz. As its layout has not undergone major changes, it still maintains today several houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. Many old and very beautiful mansions. A walk along Rua Ferreira Borges is a must for a visit to the city.

Enjoy your walk

This paved road with no traffic allows you to wander up to a number of churchs and shops. Look up to see the main buildings and also visit the side streets.

Interesting & Picturesque

Running basically from the stunning church of Santa Cruz and the Town Hall, over the hill and down to the River and the Santa Clara bridge, this shopping street is full of character.

Full of a variety of retailers, including clothing, gift/souvenir shops, cafes and bakeries it’s a nice stroll to take in the sights and people of this pretty city.

this is suppsoed to be coimbra's high street but sadly most of the shops are closed and gives it a sad feelling, the city hall should really make this more dynamic and attract different kinds of businesses.

Old Coimbra with a modern twist
Oct. 2017 • Couples
Rua Ferreira Borges is located in old town Coimbra, we didn't have any trouble finding parking. I was wondering why after 2 on a saturday parking is free, it is vecause they stores close mostly from 2 to 4 or 5 then reopen.
Not something we are used to.

Strolling around old Coimbra
Sep. 2017 • Friends
Just as you leave Santa Cruz Church, visiting it is almost a must, you find Rua Visconde da Luz and Rua Ferreria Borges that make up a busy pedestrianised street, full of shops and dotted with some buildings from the "belle epoque" that leads to a square, full of animated terraces, facing the bridge. But there are some points of interest around, beside. Should you take the Almedina Arch instead of walking down all the street up to Largo da Portagem, once you cross the Arch, a series of narrow streets, always uphill, would lead you to the oldest part of the city, where there are two cathedrals. The university is also outstanding, but look for the oldest buildings, not the modern ones which aren´t interesting. There is plenty more too see in this city, but in case you only have a few hours to spend, I think you can have a general view with these tips.

Great Place for shopping
Oct. 2017 • Friends
A landmark for Coimbra, it has a wide range of shops to visit, coffee shops to rest and enjoy some the traditional sweets.
It is a fantastic place to buy gifts, clothes, things for the house. You will find a little bit of everything.
