Although it might not look very impressive from the outside, the Aveiro Museum is a must. Besides having a very good painting collection, it is located in a beautiful convent which includes the incredible marble tomb of the Princess Saint and the amazing baroque church, completely covered in gilded woodcarving. NEVER miss it!

If you want to see just one church during your trip to Portugal, make it this one... we planned only 30 minutes to see the chapel and spend almost 3 hours touring the entire facility... it is a true treasure!

I thought this meusem mightve been more about Aveiro but was all about saint Joanne. Only worth going if you are interested in religious art & artifacts, if not there is nothing else much to see. Is in old convent. The reception area had funny damp musty smell. Wasn't for us - but at least it is cheap enough to... More

Located in the former Convent of Jesus belonging to the female branch of the Dominican Order (c. 1461), much of this fascinating museum focuses on the Order's most famous nun, Princess D. Joana, daughter of Alfonso V. It is here that she spent almost half her life before dying from TB at the age of 38. The highlights in this... More
