Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful Cathedral with some great stained glass work. Had a local take us through the Cathedral to find out some history and interesting stories. Would highly recommend having a local guide you so you don't miss out. Tipped him $5,. Made his day!

Beautiful church in the heart of the city centre. Very grand, a very peaceful and spiritual setting, on a second visit was pleasantly surprised with subtle Franciscan chanting in the background. Attending mass was a nice experience.

Portugalia (both the Azores and the mainland) are full of beautiful churches, lots of them covered by Azulejos. In comparison this church seems to be rather plain both on the outside and inside. Don't bother.

From the guide I expected a rich church with many decorations but the interior is not very exciting. The tower and the treasury were both closed and the girl at the entrance could not speak a word of english so we had no idea why

My friend and I found our way in here and were pleasantly surprised that we could walk around and enjoy the beautiful architecture. What stood out for me for this church was the selection of modern art that they had adorn the walls. I was impressed that they were progressive and embraced and supported their local artists.

Definitely a mark stone in Angra!!
Outside the statue of John Paul II.
Indoors can be found information of historical facts. Should also be provided at least in English due to the tourist affluence!

You can't help but visit this Cathedral because it's on the main road. An important church but nothing that makes it really stand out.

This was lovely. There was a man doing restoration work inside. We could see how beautiful it was and also was going to be. Wow!

Not sure, we didn't get up in time when we were there. I believe it was at 800am though.
