An incredible cave ful of colors. It soes not matter how many steps you have to do, and it is up to you, but the surrounding beauty makes the steps unnoticed.

I visited this volcano as a part of a group tour. I've visited calderas before, but I've never had the chance to go inside a volcano with an intact cone/crater. It was pretty awesome. If you go all the way down, there's a small lake...More

Bring inside a vulcano it's not regular, so take the time and check this out. ~30 minutes inside the vulcano plus a trip from Angra about 15 minutes by car. Pais activity 6€ just for this or 9€ including another cave visit.

Good photo opportunity, not difficult at all to hike. Worth a visit though not an earth shattering place.

As mentioned by others; this is a good raining day thing to do on the island; if sunny, its fine too. This is not a claustrophobic experience; very open and well lit. There are several hundred steps going down and they are damp/wet from drips...More

I believe it's open all year round. We were there in January. It is only open in the afternoon. Enjoy your trip. I love the Azores!

It's approximately ten minutes by car. You should absolutely do the combined ticket and see both if you have a car.
