Most people start from Ponta Delgado and end up at Vista do Rei. Lago Azul and Lago Verde are easy to see. From Miradouro da Boca do Inferno you can see Lagoa Rasa, Lagoa Santiago as well as Azul and Verde. If you follow the...More

As I noticed in arrears travelers warn that this is a sunny day trip to appreciate the vistas. Clouds hang low in the highlands, it can seem sunny at the beach but will not be up top if even partially cloudy and little can be...More

If you park within sight of the lake this hike is on flat ground! Otherwise it’s a knee-killing hike up to and back down to the town! Best part was the pot of tea to be had in the cafe near the gothic looking church,...More

Legends of Brugges walking tour. The free walking is definitely worth taking. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and provide insight into the town that you would not know otherwise. N.B. although free a tip is expected after the tour is finished

It will be, probably, the main attraction of São Miguel Island. The place is beautiful and it had an unusual natural beauty. Enjoy the various viewpoints for a more complete view of the lagoons. Unmissable.

We've seen many crater lakes during our lifetime, but the Sete Cidades is a must. After enjoying the view we drove down to the village and walked along one of the lakes. We won't forget easily our experience.

Overwhelming sense of awe as you drive the highway which leads down to the craters. There are 3 major routes and we did both up and down well worth the time for the drive, lovely day, take a pic in as there are areas to...More

We rented a car and drove there on our own. That way we were able to go at our own speed and stop and hike. It's an easy drive as long as you are comfortable driving on narrow roads!

It is a very safe place to drive and hike around. The weather can change pretty quickly though, especially mist, with good to zero visibility in seconds. Just be smart and have a phone or let people know where you are going... More
