The waterfalls, the stone structures, the paths, the canyon, the trees - it is an amazing sight. It is not just a viewpoint, however - you can spend a couple of hours here walking the trails if you like.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 28 April 2024
- Br F121 contributionsAnother beautiful and free natural park in Sao MiguelThis place was such a surprise! There are so many beautiful natural places to visit in Sao Miguel, and this is one of them. It's free to enter and there is a cafe and gift shop on site. We didn't visit the entire park, but strolled by the lovely waterfalls and the trail beyond, then to the other side, past the gift shop. There is a picnic area there. I was amazed with the beauty of Sao Miguel, let alone how well-maintained their free public areas are. Allow at least 30 minutes to an hour - you can spend half day, especially if you bring a picnic lunch like we did.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 15 May 2024
- NYTravelerBDWestchester County, New York1,555 contributionsPhotogenic Hidden GemThis park is rarely, if ever, on lists of top 10 things to do on Sao Miguel, and I think it's criminally underrated. The park, which charges no admission fee, is a beautiful terraced landscape with waterfalls, hiking trails, and lots of gorgeous hydrangeas. We visited as part of a drive along the island's northern coast, and it surely didn't disappoint.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 August 2024
- Steve_of_N21London, United Kingdom3,285 contributionsA fantastic park to visit and stroll around and it is all free. The Natural Park of Ribeira dos Caldeirões is located on the slopes of Serra da Tronqueira and occupies a part of the water stream of Ribeira do Guilherme. The natural park is a protected area due to the large expanse of varying vegetation within the park. It is based around a former historic small village that housed five watermills dating from the XVI century, all of which are still here. Some of them are still functional but the majority now have other uses such as housing the craft shop and the tourist office and containing several information boards on the Acores and the Nordeste region in particular. For those who want to explore there are several walking trails and the hike through the woods (along the stream) is a particularly good one. However, for those on limited time then an explore of the park’s waterfalls will take in most of it. There are several dotted about but three main ones, one of which the one beyond the tourist information centre is man made, but the two closer to the bridge are more natural. The park is also utilised for adventure sports and canyoning and canoeing in its waters is very popular. We were able to watch a group of people on a canyoning trip jumping off the cliff into the water plunge pool below.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 September 2024

I only stayed in the area around the waterfalls near the parking area which is very beautiful.
The circular trail takes around 2 hours and is very steep in some places so I didn't go.
I had seen that there was a cafe on site so I didn't bring any lunch with me but when I arrived around 1 pm they had no food at all, only a few cakes and ice cream , chocolate bars and bags of crisps! I stayed for a few hours waiting for my bus to return and later in the afternoon I saw a burger being served to a customer!
I give 3 * because of the cafe , the National Park should probably be 5*

Another stunningly beautiful place. If you don’t have time for long treks to various waterfalls on the island, then here in a small area you can admire large and small waterfalls, a mountain river, and all this in a beautiful gorge surrounded by flowers and greenery. One thing is that we were unlucky with the weather; it was raining quite heavily, although sometimes the sun peeked through the clouds. Typical ever-changing Azorean weather. The hydrangeas that we so wanted to see on the island were even beginning to bloom here. The trekking trail was closed after heavy rains. There is a cafe and souvenir shop on site. Even if you don’t have many days on the island, it’s definitely worth coming here.

The park is beautiful, but nothing special. It has 2 waterfalls and the history of the mills in the region. In 15 minutes we saw everything and left, I didn't think it was a contemplative landscape beautiful enough to stay there any longer. It must be interesting to stay there, I saw that there is a guesthouse on booking.

This is a wonderful park with waterfalls and pretty plants. Take your time and admire the beautiful surroundings. Easy access down to the water falls in natural settings. Just a refreshing place to have a break from the busy day trip.

It is a good place for you to take a break and relax with your family. It is good for all ages, kids, and elderly. They have waterfalls, watermills, flowers, plants, little trails, ponds, picnic areas and coffee shops. It is beautiful in the middle of a valley surrounded by gorgeous hills.

Cute place and lovely area to take a walk. Def worth a stop. Parking can be hard to find. They have a gift shop and small cafe. But it's just a quaint place to take a walk around. Theres a waterfall, flowers and pump house etc. Also a building thats tells you the history.

Great park, located inside a green valley full of nature. Unfortunately, when my girlfriend and I arrived, the path was closed for work.
Nevertheless, it is a beautiful place to spend a couple of hours.
