Okay it’s no Windsor Castle, but what do you expect? Climbing up the walls and along the ramparts was fun (though might not be if you have small kids) and the views are good.

A well worthwhile visit. Entrance only 1euro 40 cent. You can walk all around the parapets but not for the faint hearted as a distinct lack of guard rails having said that the walkways are mainly over 6 feet wide. Will certainly visit again.

Great views from the ramparts. Birds of prey show. A nice little cafe bar for refreshments. Beautiful old building.

For 3 Eur a person you get to see a courtyard which lacks basic security measures. No hand rails as you climb the stairs up on the walls. 5 meters + fall if you step slightly wrong. Hold the hands of your children! Makes one...More

We enjoyed walking along the wall, taking in the views, walking the paths through what once were living quarters. The steep steps into the cistern, now a display area, leads a visitor to understand the importance of collecting and storing water future needs.

Drove to Monchique area and then on to Silver. The Moorish Castle has an interesting history as does the quaint town. Visited some interesting artisan shops and purchased some tiles. Also took in the Church and city museum. Well worth the visit.

It looks great from the outside but the inside was a disappointing and not what I expected. I thought the Lynx exhibition was a bit strange and didn’t really make the connection with the site. It cost under 5 euros for entry to two sites...More

It's a nice castle from the outside, a bit disappointing from the inside. There was an empty big cat exhibit in the middle which seemed a bit random and didn't 'fit' with the castle.

To answer my own question access to Silves Castle is pretty good and it is worth a visit. There is no disabled parking at the castle entrance but you could drop off/pick up, there is disabled bay a short way up the road... More
