Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Gorgeous little beach calm as a lake great for swimming and relaxing. Fish restaurant across from it is above fish market and is a lovely place to go for lunch. There are benches dotted around so you can sit and watch the Fisher men at work and look out at the beautiful scenery.

A visit to the port and fish market is well worth a visit. Good local caught fish served upstairs in the Fishermen's restaurant with a jug of local wine goes down a treat. Watch the commercial and local fishing boats come and go and unloading their catch on the quayside.

Make sure to come in the afternoon when the fishing boats bring in their catch; the bar above the auction floor offers good views of lots of interesting sea life which goes to local restaurants. The bar has a book that will help identify what's being sold, and also sells very nice bifanas

Worth listening out for the sirens that calls workers to the fish landing to work on the trawlers bringing in their catch. When is sounds head for the port and watch how the fish is sorted by the workers and then quickly taken away by restaurants and fish mongers of the region!

If you have an hour to kill, I recommend walking around this working harbor, watching the boats come and go.

Although we have been to Sagres many times we have never driven down to the port. It only takes a minute but it is very pretty and active. There are places to park and many photo opportunities.

We have now been to Sagres for 4 years and have fallen in love with this he place. It is always one of our first walks down to the port. It’s a great view and very bracing when you finally descend the steps, there’s plenty of them and they certainly take their toll on your calves on the way back up!!! Ideal for pre or post meal walk.

Seeing the view of the marina and the fishing port from the road above got me really excited. Orange-tinged rock cliffs, the Atlantic Ocean a deep blue colour, hardly a cloud in the sky, small boats on moorings rocking with the motion of the waves, and fishing wharves jutting out into the water all made the views really special.
It was winter when we visited this charming place so there was no fishing action at the port. But surely, this place is worth visiting at any time of the year.

If staying in the area you have to visit it, partly because the area itself is not that big. It is however a bit of a trudge up and down the hill. If just there for the day it would be better just looking from above as unless there is any boat fishermen activity taking place there is little else to keep you interested. Not a port to travel long distances specifically to see.

This port was one of the highlights of our trip. Although it's a small fishing harbor, the fish auction upstairs (and small coffee/luncheon diner) was fascinating. A must-see!
