Great views from the top but the church was closed which would have been annoying if we had walked to the church instead of driving. Don't understand the reason for keeping the church closed.

High on the hill, reachable by car is this dome shaped church and chapel. The views over Loule are beautiful, quiet surroundings. Not very impressive from a architectural point of view.

We had spent the day exploring Loule and the trek up to this was one step too far so we drove. Plenty of parking and the views over the town and surrounding countryside are lovely. Truly peaceful, this place is really for the religious rather than the tourist but it is worth a look.…

Being aware of the immensity of the religious culture in Portugal, I have to admit that I was disappointed by this Shrine. It is underwhelming and it looks like there is no wish whatsoever to invite pilgrims (or just curious minds) inside. On the plus side, the statues inside are very nice artworks and the light hitting them creates interesting shadows and reflections. …
