The statue of Dom Sebastiao is not your serious traditional bronzed sculpture in the central square in Lagos. It appears as a large modern caricature towering over all around it.

This at first looked like a joke because of all the other beautiful structures dedicated to their history...One day there was a mime and another day music from locals.

This is in the main square of the old town shopping district. If your in Lagos it's a must see area, many shops, cafes and restaurants. Parking can be an issue, if the streets are full there is an underground lot to the west and...More

I would prefer a more traditional statue ..... and I am sure that most Portuguese people would also. His body was never recovered from the battlefield ...... hence the many so called descendants who kept popping up to claim the Throne.

Leads to nice area to walk around with bars, shops etc Place starting to set up for evening at7pm and now for a meal off the square

A great town square with wonderful sites and street performers. Shaded areas to relax in for free rest and people watching.

When you walk into Lagos in the evenings you can sit here and be entertained by musicians,singers,artists and of course you can people watch till well into the night and feel safe
