- Dean_BecsChard, United Kingdom91 contributionsFree Parking, beautiful beach.Fab beach, free parking. The sea was calm and perfect for little kids (and big!) to feel totally safe and have a great time. There is no shade unless you take your own or pay for a beach cabana/parasol and loungers. It's also massive so if you want to sit away from other people you can. Lots of beautiful shells for kids to play with and the sand is good for sandcastles. All in all its a lovely place to visit.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 June 2024
- Cassie S11 contributionsWhite Sandy beach with a relaxed vibeBeautiful beach with miles of soft sand. Sand bars make for good walking and playing games. Can be a little windy but nothing too crazy. Great for families and anyone who likes a laid back vibe- lots of parking available as well. It doesn’t have the cliffs the algarve is known for but still a must visit!Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 June 2024
- illuminated2010Canada91 contributionsBeautiful beach Clear waterVery nice beach with soft sand. Great for long walks. Water is very clear, but cold. Good for cooling off on a hot day. This beach is huge so lots of space and so no squeezing like other nearby beaches. The area closest to the marina has the best water and no seaweed. Washrooms outside each restaurant.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 August 2024
- Rob SLeeds, United Kingdom17 contributionsFantastic beachAmazing beach, sandy long and clean. We hired sunbeds from one of the bars for €15 a pair inc umbrella. Great value and as it’s such. A huge beach there was plenty of room. Kids even got involved in the water sports on offer.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 August 2024
- Beach CoupleTruro, United Kingdom56 contributionsLong soft sandy beach with large naturist zoneEasy access from the free station car park. 2 bars here which sit on the back of the beach. (Set satnav for Bar Quim - means Who in Catalan apparently). In front of bars & to the right towards Lagos is more crowded, sunbeds & umbrellas to hire plus a life guarded section. Take the well made board walk to the left of the bars for 5 mins until it ends. The beach then stretches out in front of you until the Alvor river. Allow 2 hours to walk to the end & back. The sand is soft & clean. The naturist section begins with a minute or two of leaving the end of the boardwalk & continues to the end of the beach. It’s not an officially recognised naturist beach but is clearly very well recognised & established. No facilities here but lots of space to find a tranquil spot. A few people wandering on the shore line (naked & clothed) but not many. All in all we think one of the best naturist beaches on the Algarve. Would definitely recommend & return.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 September 2024

Such a beautiful beach. We have been coming here for 20 years. It’s such a shame that each time we come there are more and more dogs, with families, running all over the beach and in the sea. This is not allowed, but these families ignore the warning signs. I find this very unhygienic.

Very nice and large beach. Clean and the sand is super fine. We found a parking space in the morning with no problem. There are 2 bars, each with toilets, which aren't particularly clean but are good. Unfortunately, no showers or the possibility of washing the sand off your feet.
Two loungers and an umbrella cost €18.
The water is clean and the waves are moderately high, our 3 kids had fun. The water is also reasonably warm :)

5km stretch of wide clean sandy beach backed by low sand dunes. Beautiful crystal clear sea. Take the Vai Vem ferry crossing at 1 euro each way to save walking all around the marina.

Meia Praia is very busy during the summer months but there’s always space to sit! The best time to go would be in the late afternoon, and there are lots of nice restaurants close by. It’s a very long beach which makes it ideal for a beach stroll. Best to avoid this beach during strong winds!

Very extensive beach, ideal for walking. It has several accesses and is not crowded. Super clean but somewhat cold water and the sand is nice as it is not sticky. There's a lot of quiet.
Towards the end we entered with the dog although it is not allowed as there were several dogs on the beach and had a great time.

Beach opens to open ocean. No rocks or cliffs to obstruct walk. Dunes behind. A bracing good walk as waves were often strong. Love the Dunlins that scurried with the incoming tide for tidbits.

Hi, I’ll get there by bus for a daytrip with my daughter. Is there any locker rental available to put my backpack while we’re doing the Sup tour of Ponta da Piedade? Thank you

I’ve read you can get a boat from the town to Meia Preia. Anyone know where this boat goes from? Is it somewhere on the marina? We are staying between the marina and the old town.
Written 10 July 2019
You can get a boat from the promenade near the old town centre, about ten minutes walk from the Marina and you can access it from the Marina also. The boat takes you across the river estuary a short walk from the beach. A boat also leaves from the promenade and takes you to Ponte de Piedade a thrilling ride in a small boat, especially when the boatman takes you through the tiny arches !!! They only do this when the sea is fairly calm. There is also a tourist road train which goes almost to the end of this lovey 4 km beach and you can stop off at several places and walk across the railway line (take care ! ) and over the sand dunes.

Hi, george. What would you like to know about this attraction? how do get to natures part of the beach without a car from lagos
Written 24 August 2018
Sorry a bit late in answering. There is a road train service that runs from Lagos by the marina to the last part of meia Praia beach by Sol restaurant. Get of here and then go past Sol and down wooden walkway turn left and walk along the beach until you pass a large brick wall amongst sand dunes and then you will “see” the naturist part, although it’s not an official one so you might get asked to put your costumes back on, but I’ve been there many years and only been told to once
