The Museum's archaeological collection is displayed in three rooms. The Roman period is represent in the Paths of Roman Algarve Exhibition, starting in the Southwest Writing (Iron Age), going through the Latin epigraphy and the mosaic of Oceanus room; the Islamic room shows objects of the Muslim daily life. The visitor can also see two other permanent exhibitions, the Ancient Painting (from 16th to 19th century) and the Enchanted Algarve by Carlos Porfirio.

We visited the museum to pass the time before our flight, and enjoyed looking around. Whilst there are some incredibly interesting insights into the history of the region and some amazing artefacts, there is equally quite a number of rather dull exhibits!

Very small donation to enter. It had a mixture of Roman artefacts, ancient art as well as a few modern art and hat exhibitions. Set in a lovely building

Best part of the museum is the walk along the outer walls overlooking part of Loule. There is not a tremendous amount to see inside. Free to Seniors 65+,,, be sure to ask for discount if eligible.

Small museum with artwork and ancient pottery. My favourite parts were the Roman mosaic and the building itself which used to be a convent. It's beautiful.

This is well worth a visit just to see the four rooms of amazing paintings dating back centuries that had never been shown to public viewing until recently. It's amazing to see such a huge collection of paintings but the archaelogical display is rather small...More
