It would be easy to miss the steps and tunnel down to this 'secret' beach as they are on the other side of the path and not obvious. Not sure there is much safe beach to put a towel on and relax as the waves come crashing in from the sea and the dry sand is too close to the overhanging cliffs to be restful. But spectacularly beautiful as all the little coves are along this coastline.

This is our 2nd week's holiday here to this beautiful location. The first time was pre Covid and we have only just managed to return. We love Carvoeiro so much we were keen to return as we loved the beach here with excellent facilities toilets, showers and a huge selection of bars and restaurants. The beach itself, on our previous visit, was just like all the tourist photos, golden sand clear water and a good place to swim. However, we have been so disappointed on our return this June (2022) to find huge amounts of seaweed washed up on the beach. The weed is so deep in places it came above our knees. At low water the beach was covered and at high water still plenty on the beach but also a lot back in the sea. What is so frustrating is that the authorities have made no effort to remove what is rotting on the beach. Only this morning, 5 June, did a tractor come onto the beach to groom the sand but made no effort to clear away the weed. There must be so many disappointed visitors. We recognise there is nothing that can be done with the weed in the sea but when it is washed up why not remove it like they do in many other European beaches. Photos tell the story.

Tried to access this beach September 2023. The cliff jumping access was closed and the beach was COVERED in black seaweed. Could not swim or really use the beach at all. I would check ahead of time before making your way out here!

Perfect for rest and relaxation
We especially liked this beach because the scenery is top and the beach was not overcrowded. A small tunnel with steps leads to the beach - a unique experience.
Small insider tip: On the very left, there is a small cave in the stone, where it is windless and of course shady. The place is perfect for a little nap or to read something.

A great beach, a little tricky to find and accessed by foot via a tunnel. Get there early and it's quiet, and there's some shade, but beware encamping under overhanging cliffs with potential rock falls. no black bar so bring cold drinks.

I have been coming here for about 9 years, the beach is perfect, just the right size, soo beautiful, toilets next to the beach and shower facilities to wash your feet etc. Restaurants, ice cream bars and bars and shops are all two mins from the beach yet you still feel a million miles away when you are on it.

More shells than there used to ever be in the sand but just an observation, - a beautiful beach for all the family.

We have been staying in Carvoeiro for over a week now and, despite much preferring the beach to a swimming pool, the cost of hiring sunbeds is €25 for two people including the shaded canopy.
Even at this price the beds tend to sell out as there is only 24 (approx) but we are simply not prepared to pay that price.
The beach itself consists mostly of broken shell and can be uncomfortable to walk on when hot. It also gives way easily and you can sink ankle deep especially when entering and exiting the sea which falls away quickly.
Any leg joint problems are quickly found out and it was physically very demanding to enjoy the sea. So much so that my struggles to walk in the sand were noticed by other holiday makers as well as the life guards who all tried to help. I was okay and could just about manage to make my way back up the beach to my expensive sunbed but only just and it wasn't easy.
Many enjoy this beach and take there own chairs, towels and umberellas. Something to consider buying if you want to visit beaches regularly along this coast, especially the more secluded ones.
This beach is always busy but is readily accessible from the town. The next cove west and a short walk around the headland is another much quieter beach but not facilities and only accessible via steps. It's a beautiful location but it's a rocky access to the sea but just follow the locals.

Yes this beach is small, but what I loved was that it was quite and didn't seem touristy. It's a great spot to hang out.

A smallish beach surrounded by cafes and restaurants made this a most enjoyable stop for an afternoon glass of wine or coffee.

We walked the cliffs and ended up looking down on this beautiful beach. Unlike most beaches to access the beach is via a small staircase that goes through the rocks.
The beach is gorgeous. On one side of the beach is a narrow path that leads to great vistas of the beach and coastline. Worth the visit.
