Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Each time I am in Albufeira I try to get to Mass in this chapel. I find it to be a very peaceful place. Although I do not speak Portuguese I enjoy attending the Mass here which is always very packed at 6pm and less packed at 10pm. This was the first time I attended the later Mass and it was lovely to walk up the dark streets to the toll of the bells before Mass started.
If you enjoy going to churches/chapels its worth a visit. Mass times are posted in the Holy shop across the road. The chapel only appears to have its doors open if there is Mass on or rehearsals.

Meander to the high end of the old town of Albufeira (just follow the Bell), and you will find an exquisite small church, which has been converted into a small museum of Albufeira. It is a little gem, which you should not miss!!

Beautiful Church well worth the climb to the top of the hill as it provides wonderful views of town and sea.
We had our picnic sitting on the wall whilst admiring the views.
Only notice outside was in Portugese and mass times were not obvious. However I followed the sound of the bells on Sunday morning which believe it or not played When the Saints go marching in. Honestly. Interior is beautiful. Very crowded.

we popped into this church and were delighted! so plain on the outside but stunning inside!
Well worth a visit!
the kids loved the 'electric candles' as we always light a candle in any church but you pop your money in and the lights flash before staying on so you can see which is your candle!
The alter is one of the most stunning I have ever seen!

What a gem of a church, we surely enjoyed our visit. We were lucky enough to have hired a guide fom a local restaurant to show us some sights in Albuferia. The guide did her homework & definitely enlightened us on some of the history of Albuferia especially Santa Anna church. We found out Santa Anna is the patron saint of grandparents ( something we likely should have known).
A lovely church, well worth visiting. It is kept in pristine condition.

Stumbled across this church when out walking one morning, there was a celebration going on with families attending holding baskets and dressed traditionally. We couldn't understand what was going on, but it was breath taking to see so many people outside, there was a loud speaker of the mass being said inside the church. Wish we could go inside and experience it, however we were being respectful. Would visit again as the reviews are inspiring.

We missed this last time and I don't know how, it's over the road from where we stayed. What a beautiful little church. Obviously a tourist attraction as there was always people walking up the little hill to it. Unfortunately it was always closed when we went to go in,but it holds a great deal of affection for the locals, who always sat on the benches outside . Worth a look.

We found this tranquil haven after a short climb up the hill in the old town. It is well worth the walk up. The church interior is beautiful it is historic and a real find. The church has a history which is described at the entrance and is truly beautiful inside. It isn't open all the time, but if you can get there when it is it is more than worth the walk.

A beautiful Church at the top of Albufeira. A bit of a climb if you struggle with mobility. It sits overlooking the cobbled streets of the bustling Old Town, you can always walk in and enjoy the architecture, or just sit and enjoy the quite. For a couple of Euros you can light an electric candle to remember someone. An oasis of calm. Definitely worth a visit.

Not much to see in Albufeira from a historical point of view and it would have been nice to be able to see inside the church but like many others could not get inside as it was shut!!
