Far from being the centre of activities in Evora, the Plaza Giraldo is tired and worn, needing to be cleaned up, gentrified and activated. We watched many tourists and groups arrive there and to give an almost unanimous shrug. At least there are good restaurants...More

Public executions, including burning condemned sinners at the stake, made the Giraldo Square a place of revulsion and attraction in the day. Now, though, people consider it a central gathering place for much different reasons: shopping, eating and meeting friends. The architecture here is a...More

It was a rainy day in Evora and we were really happy to come upon the Praca with its covered sidewalks. It was impossible to use the square itself but it was nice to be dry.

If you're visiting Evora's walled city, you'll be going to/through the square at some point. It has lovely architecture and a few restaurants and shops.

This town turns around this place. There is always a sunny side and there is always other in the shadow. Everyone will find there something to please.

All roads lead from this square. A lively place to visit and to get your bearings for any walking tour of Evora. Several cafe's surround the square along with stores.

Lively central square in Evora. Pretty architecture and several restaurants, etc. When we were there they had a performance of fado and other music on a summer evening.
