We loved the Almendres Cromlech and considered it a highly worthwhile trip. However, on our way out we discovered that someone had broken into our locked car and stolen almost everything. We were visiting the site on our way out of Evora, so our suitcases...More

This is not worth the drive unless you are a massive archaeology/anthropolgy buff or really really bored and youve got a really animated guide with you. It's a bunch of largish rocks covered in moss that look like every other largish rock covered in moss...More

This collection of megalithic rocks is so cool to walk around! Forget about Stonhenge....this is 2000 years older! It's a bit of a dirt road to get there, but well worth it! We were there today and we were the only ones at the site...More

It is interesting, specially to show to children, and reachable by car. I got, though, really upset with the attitude of some tourists, that decide to climb the stones, touch them and so on, with the intention of doing memorable pictures. Really disappointing how people...More

Not like Stonehenge but is also interesting. Some of the inscriptions I can’t see cause the erosion . If you have time go to see! You can reach by car and then walking 200 m for the entrance at the site .

Located amid orchards of cork oak and olive trees, 95 granite megaliths form a temple that is located on the road from Evora to the Lisbon airport. Its quiet and contemplative, predates Stone Henge by 1000's of years.

I recently did a private tour, organised through visitevora.net and our guide was Martin. He was excellent, collected us from our hostel and drove us to the site. He was a mine of information and was thoroughly knowledgeable. He hit the right balance between giving...More

I was there on a full moon night and clear night sky and it was magical. Do not forget your camera. And please respect the place.

a fascinating side trip, especially if you’ve seen other sites elsewhere in the world. The commonalities are stunning. A short easy walk from the parking lot. Excellent interpretative signage. NOTE: there are no toilet facilities here (although several people have obviously designated a patch of...More

This is a very interesting site from 5500 BC. We had a local guide that does daily trips to three sites of the same vintage (Mario) arranged through our hotel

Not every day you get to explore an ancient site like this....6-8 thousand years old....amazing place. So few tourists around, nothing commercial about this place. Beautiful setting and definitely a certain energy coming from these stones....who knows who originally placed them in this area and...More

No public transport, and it's well off the beaten track. We had our own car, but car hire is cheap in Portugal (if you don't do it through an hotel) - probably less than a taxi. Well worth the trek, however you get there. We... More
