Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A small octagonal church in Largo de Sta Clara, despite its simple exterior, amazes upon entering through walls and dome covered with yellow and blue tiles and marble columns.
It has access to a rear balcony, a high choir I suppose, from where the views still improve.
The church is desecrated and is only dedicated to tourism, although admission is free.
Well worth a visit.

This small octagonal church from the 16th century located behind the Cathedral de Elvas on the Largo das Freiras belonged to the Antigo Convento das Freiras de São Domingo's, a larger monastery complex, which was largely destroyed at the beginning of the 20th century.
Before that, there was an even older church of the Templar Order.
The typical Portuguese tiles date from the 17th century.
It really is a little gem, actually more beautiful on the inside than the cathedral

By leaving the Cathedral turn left and go uphill for about 150 meters, here you will see the very small “Igreja das Domenicas” who was an ancient feminine Convent of the Dominican Order established in 1528. The construction of Church we can observe nowadays started in 1543 and it was concluded in 1557 in the exact place where used to be the Church of Magdalena., who is also closed on Monday, so I can only show some pictures but we continue on the tour. And the next part is the “Pelourinho”.

We came across this lovely church as we walked through Elvas after walking around the fortifications. Although it was quite small, the chapel was beautifully decorated, and it was a calming place to rest

The convent is small and charming. The tiles are very beautiful and amazing. Be sure to check when it is open so that you can fit it in during your visit to Elvas.

this quaint church decorated in tiles may well have seen better days but to me that just adds to it's charm and if you don't mind climbing up some stairs to a small viewing platform that felt very private to me you'll be rewarded with some fine views.
