In many travel guides is written that Elvas should be a very nice and interesting place. I drove there, but found it neither nice nor interesting. I travelled during 30 days around Portugal and saw at least 50 castles in the country. The one of...More

Although much smaller than other castles, still worthwhile as does not take long and an easy walk. Nice views from the top

Perfect place for a weekend break from your holidays. Loads to visit if you like it. Or just relax. Free parking near to Castle and several Restaurants around, main Square 5 min walk.

Well preserved castle with spectacular views over Portugal and Spain. You can wander freely around its ramparts for about 2 euros but there is little information on display and mostly in Portuguese only. This city is a world Heritage Site and one would expect more....More

Considering the town hasn’t exactly set out to really preserve the castle and its walls, it’s amazing it’s in such good shape. Certainly the original construction helped. What’s interesting is how many walls there are in this city. Make sure to get a map from...More

This is really a nice way to see the surrounding area and the price is very reasonable. We climbed all the towers and enjoyed it.

Unspectacular castle, quite small but in good shape, very nice view on the city and on the new Fort on the opposite hill.

The castle is at the edge of ELVAS. Nothing unusual at this castle, but it has a wonderful view of the city. I look ahead, I remembered the book Desert Tartars.

a small and well kept castle that stands proud in this fortified town of elvas and is more than worth your time and while the biggest appeal of it is the views it offers there is a nice gift shop and cafeteria inside the grounds.

Good place to go for a party as well as to eat something. Location makes it actually look like a castle. There is also a great view spot right next to it!
