The 115 metres high brick tower of the Church of Our Lady is a perfect illustration of the craftsmanship of Bruges' artisans. The church displays a valuable art collection: Michelangelo's world-famous Madonna and Child, countless paintings, 13th-century painted sepulchres and the tombs of Mary of Burgundy and Charles the Bold.

Just to walk into this church and to see the paintings, stained glass windows, vaults, and this sculpture are of storybook legend. I love the setting of this area, and the walk to get there along the canal is breathtaking.

The footprint of the church is not large but its spire is 115 m tall and made of brick. Renovation to the exterior is nearly complete and the restoration to the interior is well underway. Michelangelo's Madonna and Child is clearly a highlight, although the...More

So worth the small fee to get inside this church to see the statue created by Michelangelo. Kept behind glass and a little far away, but still quite beautiful - luckily Hitler's men did nothing to diminish its beauty.

We went for the Madonna and child statue and stayed for so much more: the lovely rood screen, the brass recumbents of Charles the Bold and his daughter Elizabeth, the stunning stained glass windows, the dramatically carved wooden sculptures, the newly uncovered 13th century crypt...More

Yes, the Madonna and Child are lovely. However, I also really liked seeing the tombs of Charles the Bold and his daughter, Mary of Burgundy. It made these historical figures feel like real people, and I was sad to hear the story of how Mary...More

So much history! Well worth the visit and well worth the few euros to see one of Michelangelo's masterpieces. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful architecture, I got really sad when I saw it was under construction/reform. Although, there are some different, but beautiful gardens around and I recommend the visit there.

I think you have to pay if you want to see the Madonna by michaelangelo but i think it is free if you want to enter the church and not see the madonna.

Same as other replies the renovations are taking place around it.
The church is under renovation so parts of it are not open. But you can see the Madonna in their museum. From the BRUGGE web site: Tickets for the museum section are on sale in the south transept until 4.30 p.m. Monday 09:30 am - 17:00 pm Tuesday 09:30 am - 17:00 pm Wednesday 09:30 am - 17:00 pm Thursday 09:30 am - 17:00 pm Friday 09:30 am - 17:00 pm Saturday 09:30 am - 17:00 pm Sunday 13:30 pm - 17:00 pm
