Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We (eight people) arrived 5mins late for a tour and saw the group leaving without us. We were told by the only person at the welcome desk (a security guard) that the tour guides “don’t care” if people are missing from the tour and that as they were understaffed it was not possible for someone to come pick us up after the tour had started (it had only just started). Very unprofessional experience and no effort whatsoever to accommodate us. Nobody other than the security guard was there at the entrance to explain whether we could join another tour or be refunded. Would give 0 stars if that was possible.

Very interesting as such and guide Luk did a great job. Having said that, in reality, it was sheer torture due to the horrendous temperature inside the exposition rooms. Despite clearly visible airco-unit, the Inside temperature was well over 33c and no noticeable ventilation. Amazing that world's largest brewery commits such a PR-blunder.

I was in Brussels and realised that Leuven is a short hop on the train away. So went onto the Web Site and booked a Sunday 13-00 English tour. Now I've been on a few brewery trips so know what to expect. This one was slightly different in the fact you do a lot of walking. Which is good to get you up to a point where you need a drink. The guide told us all about the History of the firm, beer making and all things else. We got to go to taste 6 different (if you wanted) beers. Be aware Belgium do not make weak beer (The strongest was nearly 9%). I enjoyed the trip (14 Euros). I enjoyed the beers I tasted (25 to 33 cl). Then as we left we all were given a bottle of 9.4% Grand Cru beer in a presentation case to go. Thank you - that is yet to be tasted.

We booked a brevery visit on Sunday. Unfortunatly nobody (neither brewery nor tourism office) told us that on this day would be the Leuven cycle race. Arriving Leuven lots of roads in the city were blocked. Using 3 different navigation systems non of them showed alternative ways to the brewery. So better arrive one day in advance as the brewery will not respect any delay.

Our tour guide Ann was excellent, with brilliant English and a passion for the job. You see a limited part of the factory (brewing tanks and then bottling area) but the presentations were very informative. Free draught beers at the end and then a bag with 3 cans to take home.

My husband and I LOVE beer. Visiting breweries is a must on any trip. We really enjoyed the tour - the facility is a 15 minute walk from the train station - and we loved the free samples of cold Stella at the end. The gift bag was the icing on the cake! There is a good bit of history shared on the tour so we really appreciated this aspect of the tour.

The entrance is difficult to find however once we found it we joined about 35/40 people in a small waiting area. The tour consists of a lot of walking and screen presentations of the brewing process , you do see a small bit of the factory, the bottling plant is interesting. You really get your moneys worth at the end with Stella tastings and on leaving you get a gift bag with more beer

We live in Brussels and despite many trips to Leuven we had never visited the brewery so when our daughter and her husband came to stay it was a perfect reason to do the tour. There is a free visitors car park really close to the entrance. I would recommend pre-booking your tickets on the internet, there were a few who arrived without any, luckily there was enough room for them to be included. There was a couple of PowerPoint presentations along the way but these were short and interesting covering key points, the guide spoke good English and had a good sense of humour too. I would say we were there around 1.5 - 2 hours, the tour finishing off with the opportunity to sample the beers and purchase glasses etc from the small souvenir shop.
We were also given gift bags with a couple more samples as we left. Interesting and definitely worth the €8.50 entrance fee.

Even for the most dedicated fans of Stella Artois, this might be a bit of an anti-climax. Tickets are €8.50 and are available from the Tourist Office at the town hall in Leuven and for that you get....to wear a hi-vi vest on a long walk on which you see the main areas of beer production.
Problem is - there ain't much happening, it's hot and frankly a bit...dull. You get taken to the bar at the end and get a glass of the stuff. There is a souvenir shop - which wasn't open and after all that I shave to be honest and say that I'd rather done the entry fee on the product in a bar than sampling at source. But disappointing, really.

After reading the Terrible review this is clearly just people who like to moan
If you are coming set of in time it's on the outskirts its a working brewery it's not going to be in the centre of town and it's a little walk to the reception area from the road
Very easy to find and states well visitors this way and tours wait here ( toilets was downstairs if you needed them )
Well accomodating to the people who needed the lifts and the tour guide was lovely
Tour started prompt so lateness I will assume isn't accommodated for which will just hold up people who could arrive on time and there's alot of videos on the tour however there isn't staff there on a weekend it does state its not a working factory and spare staff
Very informative and a lovely tour the free samples and wasn't shy to give you more which my partner to full advantage of 🙈🙈🙈
The gift shop needed prices which was my only gripe I may have thought twice about paying t50 euro for a hoodie but then again I probably wouldn't and the 3 cans to come away with was an added bonus
Well worth 14 euro
And the others who was on the tour was lovely so brilliant experience

Where does the tour start from? Is it easily visible once inside the building? I heard that it is hard to find . Thanks.

What is the best way to get to the brewery from Brussels?
Written 22 July 2019
We got the train to Leuven and the a (Uber) taxi which droppedus off right at the door. Repeated the exercise to get back, Alternatively, for more able bodied people, it could be walked but make sure you know the actual entrance and route before you start.

What is the easiest way to get from Brussels to the brewery?
Written 18 July 2019
Get the train from Brussels Centraal or Midi, when you get off at Leuven it's a 10mins walk up to the brewery. Walk round the outside of the brewery and you will see the signs.

Trying to book a tour visit at Stella Artois but no June dates are available during my visit to Leuven. Can I show up day of visit at brewery and purchase tour ticket ? Don't want to miss a chance to visit my favorite beer brewery. Thank you!
Written 4 June 2019
How far in advance can you purchase tickets? When I go on the website it does not allow me to put in dates in April or May. Also are tours a available during the week or only on Saturdays and Sundays? I am getting conflicting information on various websites. Thanks so much.

Can you visit the brewery without booking a tour?
Written 1 February 2019
No.... The buildings are spread all over the place and you had to have a staff member with you to walk you all over. It’s a lot of outside then inside and out again. Nothing like Heineken or Guinness tours.
Written 1 February 2019
Yes it’s a 30 min train journey then a 10 minute walk.
Written 3 January 2018
Is it mandatory to do a tour in order to get to the bar area? I'll be in Brussels with 2 friends and we would love to drink some fresh Stella. We will be in Brussels during the week, so individual tours aren't available.
Written 24 November 2017
I think so as ours was a free bar inside the factory to conclude the tour, and then to encourage you into the shop. However you’ll find most Belgian bars will have a great range of beers - draft and bottled - that will be poured into specific branded glasses so you won’t be too disappointed.
