Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the major neighborhoods in the center of town where you will find lots of waterfront, canal houses and restaurants with outdoor seating. Lots of views and history all around, plus the important buildings. You will spend time here.

Patershol, a mediaeval quarter at the foot of the Castle of the Counts of Flanders, has had a turbulent history. It went from riches to rags and became a disreputable red-light district and slum. Renovation started at the end of the 1970s, and today Patershol, with its varied architecture and cobbled pedestrian alleys, is the perfect getaway from the buzz of the main squares.

This is the place to escape the urban bust in downtown Ghent. Patershol is a pleasant and peaceful area north of the popular cathedrals. Visitors can freely wander around cobblestoned alleys and historic houses without any crowd.

This is a good neighborhood for a stroll and an exploration and maybe to get lost in. Lots of old architecture, some cafes, lots of atmosphere.

Nice area to walk around, going into all of the little streets. Intersting to see the backs of buildings, with their walled-in gardens and little 'neighborhood' parks. Several restaurants and shops hidden on tiny streets with little signage - I guess you just have to know they are there, or you just take advantage of your 'discovery'.

The neighborhood is certainly very characteristic, more because of the structure of some houses and the flooring of the houses, both typically Flemish. It certainly looks like a shadow of its former self, so I wasn't particularly impressed. Not even the locals enchanted me. To be seen only if you are in the area.

I highly recommend you to escape from the city center to explore the peaceful part of Ghent. You can walk peacefully and check out the building without a crowd.

Away from all the hustle and bustle of the city center, this area is very quiet with some cool small shops and restaurants. There's a ton of character all around, and a relaxing atmosphere.

This is a great place for a stroll, close to the city centre yet with an altogether more relaxed and quieter feel. It is not a large area with with small cobbled streets, historic amd attractive buildings and many small bars and restaurants.
