The Museum is located in the beautiful Citadel Park, surrounded by lush gardens. It is a lovely piece of architecture, very gracious and welcoming. Inside, it is divided into several bright airy exhibit spaces where every piece is shown to its best advantage. The artwork...More

I'm not really a person who visits art museums but it's always nice to take advantage of what a city has to offer and what can I say, this is just an amazing collection of stunning works. The highlight for me was to see the...More

Fun to see Flemish artists unfamiliar to me. Good collection, well displayed, quite a sizeable museum. Good restaurant too. On the edge of the lovely Citadel Park. Tram stop a few blocks away.

Has some pretty nice works in here. Covers period from great masters to the impressionists, but majority are the great masters. Also has some modern art as well. Interesting exhibition on restoring the altarpiece of Ghent.

Huge museum full of art made by masters e.g. Jeroen Bosch, James Ensor... You can spend several hours here.

It's a nice museum, depending on what art you like. My taste is a bit different from what is exhibited there, which can make me frustrated. But It's a must see.

The day I visited, the Wednesday before Easter, four panels from the bottom row of the famous altarpiece were on display. It was great to see them up close. Even the panel that is a reproduction of the only missing original was excellent. Elsewhere in...More

Good gallery with some interesting items. Its not too big and the contents are ok. The contents aren't the most well known or the best but there are some interesting pieces and its definitely worth seeing.

Pretty good art museum for a smaller city. There was a wide range of different works from multiple time periods.

The Museum voor Schone Kunsten is a nice enough museum, although we found it lacks real top of the range art. The highlight is seeing the restorers at work on the famous altarpiece from the Baafskathedraal by the Van Eyck brothers.

It is open on Sundays (10 - 18) but like many museums in Europe it is closed on Mondays. You could try St Bavo's Cathedral instead on Monday if you are looking for something that is open.
