Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This museum is a must for people living in and around Hasselt. I'm not sure all of it will be interesting to those coming from further away ?!? Anyway, I liked it but as I'm from Hasselt well ... There is also a very nice feature for the younger visitors (6-12year) called 'het mussenkussen'. In a playful way they will learn all the different aspects of Hasselt and its surroundings. Also keep an eye on their website for temporary expositions ! What annoyed me a bit is that the data is not kept accurate but hey, it's not Wikipedia ;-) So don't forget to visit our local history, the museum is free.

A small museum/based in an old house - free. Worth a visit if you are interested in the town Hasselt (note not in English but you may have to request audio from reception). Interesting regarding Hasselt's trades such as clocks, sliver ornaments, buildings/old hotels - I found interesting. full floor re religion - not my thing. however ground floor maps/history of Hasselt going back in time / how it has gradually changed.

Entry to the city museum of Hasselt is free. For that, one gets a fairly rich history starting with some prehistoric findings, continuing with the medieval county of Loon, of which Hasselt became the capital, and some events in subsequent centuries, such as the battle of Hasselt between the Dutch and Belgian armies. There are some archeological findings from the nearby abbey of Herkenrode. If you're in Hasselt, this is definitely worth visiting.

The history of Hasselt and some other object collected all together. Not too much to see but it is somehow interesting as all the museums. The fact that there is free entrance can be also interesting, you have nothing to lose in giving a glance. So feel free to inform yourselves about the story of this small city.

Het Stadsmus is the city museum of Hasselt. It's free to visit and exhibits several things related to the city of Hasselt, like information on ongoing projects, items related to the city and information on the city's history. It's nice to visit if you have some time left, but I wouldn't say it's a must see.
