Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My girlfriend and I went here on our city break to Amsterdam. First of all, you need to book this a month to two months in advance (we emailed a month before and managed to get a slot thankfully). It is free.
We got the train from Amsterdam Central to Den Haag Laan v NOI. This costed €20 each for a return ticket. It was roughly a 40minute ride on a double decker train. The ICC is then a 10/15 minute walk from the station through a mainly residential area. I would use google maps for exact walking instructions. Nothing too hard. When you walk under the bridge there is a main entrance on right, but continue round the corner to the right and past the metal fencing to get to the entrance for a visit.
Once you go inside your bag is checked through an airport style security check. You are then asked to lock your bag and belongings (incl phone) in a locker (do not have to pay for this).
You are then given a history of the court, then a talk from someone who works there. Our talk was given by an Irish lady Annie who was great. You are then allowed to sit in the gallery when the court is in session.
It was really interesting and lasted roughly 1.5 hours, then as long as you want in viewing gallery. It is important to note this is a "Visit" as apposed to a "Tour".
The court is moving next year (2016) and as a result the tours for the present court stop in October 15, and new tours of the new court will likely start in Jan 16.

This is not your typical vacation activity. However, if you are interested in international law, social justice, and peace studies, this is definitely the place for you. A modern building with a high amount of security, there is an informative self guided tour inside, but the real draw is if the Court is in session and you have a chance to watch part of a trial. Absolutely fascinating. There is only limited room in viewing chamber, but if there is a chance take advantage of it. The items discussed will be heavy, but are incredibly important. Sometimes there are parts of a trial happening that do not show up on their calendar. Just have to show up and see. Couldn't recommend highly enough if you have the right mindset.

We visited the International Criminal Court at The Hague and we were luck to witness the judgement in the Ntaganda case and the confirmation of charges in the Al Hassan case. If you’re interested in the processes of the ICC then you must visit, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended!

New address is Oulde Waldorpsweg. Not sure if tours are possible. It's a purpose built building designed by Danish architects.

This court does incredible work. The building is nice and the interior has a self-guided tour with headphones. We forgot to bring ID and were turned away, so we had to go back to get an ID to show for entry. Pretty sure the headphones are re-used though as the woman at reception took ours and returned them to the same rack she was grabbing them from for new guests. We were hoping to have hearings scheduled when we were there, but there were no hearings scheduled. The tour is interesting, but the information is provided at a very basic level. This work is so impactful and it would be great to have a more in-depth tour available for those interested.

Visited on a tour for law students. Very interesting place- getting to see inside is interesting but to be honest, not much time is needed to see it. Still worthwhile to see and learn about !

Interesting visit. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Good to see the trial chamber, especially as most of us were States Parties to the Statute.
Two let-downs: 1. When I enquired at reception about whether they had a visitors' shop, I was told (quite sarcastically by lady at reception) that the ICC "had no need of extra revenue". Hmmm if the UN itself successfully does so then why not? No need for any extra little money in these tough financial times I guess.
2. The security guard assisting us on our way out was extremely rude to a number of visitors, and someone even had to call him out on his behavior (this was at 2.30pm on 11th December 2018. Take note supervisors.

Important place to visit. Found it very informative and interesting. Security is tight which is to be expected as very important hearings takes place at the ICC. Attended a hearing of a former African president and could follow procedings until the session was switched to private. We could still watch but couldn't hear anything. Well worth the visit.

Really important place to learn about international criminal court info. Not so much info for visitor. But trials are open to visit, better check the case in advance. Must take passport to check in. No photo and sell phone inside.

Does a single traveler need a reservation to visit? And how is it booked? The ICC website does not have a link to reserve a visit.
Thank you!

You do not need to reserve - just turn up with photo ID (passport etc)

I will be coming to visit The Netherlands in July/August and very much want to visit the International Criminal Court. How do I get a ticket to visit?
This will be the highlight of my trip to the Netherlands.
I would also like to know what hotels are within walking distance of the ICC as I want to stay one night there.
Thank you
