Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Wereldmuseum is in a gorgeous building with a lot of space dedicated to beautiful high ceilinged function rooms often used for big parties and weddings. The collection was in my perception a bit mediocre and the temporary hair power exhibition a bit dark and frankly a bit boring as well (with an exception for the barber style living rooms). The Rotterdam colonialism exhibition is a somewhat too obvious attempt to show the old stuff in a contemporary context. Altogether still worthwhile of a visit with the Museumkaart.

We had no plans to go to this museum when we visited Rotterdam, but what a delight when we were walking in the Veerhavn area to see the building on a corner of the harbor. Goud der Goden is one of the finest exhibitions I have ever seen -- beautiful objects presented in excellent installation, plus a fine audio self-guided tour in English. It ranks with the great Scythian gold show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art a few years ago. Take the train to Rotterdam and do not miss this show -- once in a lifetime. The museum has a lovely cafe with inspired menu, and a beautifully designed shop. You will find it altogether a wonderful experience.

This is possibly the best museum I have ever visited.
I was truly impressed with the diversity of the exponates - from all over and from all the periods of time.

The theme of the museum is very interesting but at the moment one can only visit a limited part of the museum. It is free of charge to visit during the re-building phase so it is worth while to visit even if there isn't a whole lot to see at the moment.

This is a wonderful museum in a beautiful building next to the Rotterdam port and the Erasmus Bridge. A diverse collection of exhibits over several floors with a cute gift shop and a VERY good café. The Caesar salads there are perfect - I walked there several times just for lunch!! A must see if you are in the area around the port.

Especially the current temporary exhibition "Gold of the Gods" is excellent. Excellent level of information about the exhibits (by the free audio guides, books present near the exhibits). A nice touch was the availability of magnifying glasses for a closer look of the fine details and the Indonesian music that was played for the right atmosphere.
The other, fixed, exhibition is of a bit lower quality, although still worthwhile, especially the part about Buddhism.

The museum is very well located right next to the Waterbus pier and Spido boats so you can easily visit it if you are planning a trip to Kinderdijk or a Spido boat tour. "Gold of Gods" exhibition was very well presented and included some truly stunning pieces of gold from Java. The permanent exhibition was a wonderful surprise, it has a very diverse collection, my favourite parts were Tibet and Oceania. Audio guide in English was included in the admission price. Highly recommended

This museum is mostly filled with native art from all over the world. They also have a lot of different exhibitions, even though I must admit it's really a taste-thing. On top of the museum is a really good restaurant, can highly recommend that.

Loved the exhiibits, beautiful building and store and wonderful destination restaurant. Don't miss going through all the floors and having coffee outside on the waterfront in the Bali house!
