I was surprise on the way that Rotterdam port expand its space by spraying sand to the sea. More important thing is their commitment to build up policy and practice for sustainability. The way they treat landscape and vessels reflect their leadership in sustainability. It is really great project!

Take the boat and bus tours and one will step into the world of Dutch harbour works, especially containerterminals and their backgrounds. Even for people with a background in transport over water, be it on the rivers or sea, it will provide new information. A nice experience.

The museum is situated in the middle of "de Maasvlakte" and it gives a wonderful overview of the efforts to manage water.

It was a perfect day for my trip to board the Pioneering Spirit, the largest ship to lift and transport oilrigs in its entirety. We would the boat to bring us to the huge ship would pick us up at FutureLand. I had small problems to find it although it appeared to be aside the road. The road signs are... More

The Dutch people are known as the Makers of Land out of the Ocean. Here they are in the process of reclaiming land at the opening of the river Maas and building the biggest harbor in Europe in order to replace the harbor that is sited in the hart of Rotterdam. The Visitor center is interesting and enlightening. The boat... More

This was an interesting exhibit but the best part being the tour round the various harbour areas by boat. Its a really excellent tour, very interesting and if you like cranes and bits of interesting industrial landscape with ships in (I do!) then this is for you. Also great photos to be taken.

This exibition tells the story of how the Maasvlakte (the extension to the Rotterdam harbour) was built. It is not an extensive exibition, but still interesting. A nice addition to viiting the area. I did not go in but there was a cafe that was doing a good business.

Visiting the maasvlakte is an awesome experience, and a visit to futureland is a nice addition. It is however a mix between dated looking and poor technology information content providers. It however does not catch the diversity and new developments in the worldwide shipping business. It therefore only interesting for 1 hour, which in my opinion is to little for... More
