Having paid to go in and finding the Webster University Graduation Ceremony being set up we wondered how it could be done in front of the alter - then we found a chart that said the building was handed over in 1976 to be a...More

My mum and I were following one of the walking routes around Leiden when we come across Pieterskerk, thought we'd pop in and take a look and was pleasantly surprised! Helpful staff in the coffee shop, very cheap entrance fee and a booklet containing the...More

We'd done a fair amount of walking around Leiden and were keen for a cup of tea and a sit down. We found the cafe at Pieterskerk - and the monument itself. The building is of phenomenal proportions. It has strong links with the Pilgrim...More

The building itself is fairly plain, nothing really special or out of the ordinary to see, even on a normal day. We were warned on the way in that it wasn't a normal day, as an event was setting up and this would obscure some...More

This street is full of book shops, vintage store as I remember. There's a church in this street. It is a lovely place to have a short walk.

We were walking in the area and decided to go in to see this church which no longer has services but is still in use for events. I didn't realize it at the time but there are links to the US Pilgrim fathers which was...More

Pieterskerk is interesting to walk by and through and a must see for any American in Leiden because of the pilgrim aspect. The church itself, however, is a typical medieval European cathedral without any unique architectural features.
