Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really presents the history in an excellent manner with a lot of exhibits, how the people lived and made a living, sometimes out of their homes, such as peeling shrimp and grocery store in the home. Evolution of coif,.
Interesting on what they made with cigar labels into mosiacs, a major attraction.

This small museum is very well presented with every aspect of the daily life of its citizens in the past. Apparently this is the only city in Holland with a Catholic majority and several groups of impersonated scenes of daily life prove it. All these scenes show how these citizens lived, worked, went to mass or had their orchestra. This museum is well worth a visit

I was at the famous Volendam for a few hours. I ate kibbeling ( deep fried fish filet) and of course “ de Nieuwe Hollandse Haring” (raw herring with chopped onions) which is very famous in Holland. Also we took a picture in traditional Volendam costumes at a special photo booth. Very vintage scenery. You can also see how cheese is made at a special store. Please be aware of a strong milk scent while visiting the cheese shop. Overall I nice place to be. If the weather is nice you can sit down and enjoy a nice breeze by the water or go on a boat ride.

A small museum completely maintained by this sweet couple. It has interesting pieces that speak about the history and culture of Volendam. They have a unique room which has been made with cigar stickers ( or something like that ) ... It's the first pic attached here. Would suggest one to donate so that they have enough for the upkeep of his beautiful place full of warmth.
Lovely souvenirs too :)

Take a few minutes to understand Volendam before heading out to the waterfront. This museum walks you through the events that have shaped it recently, in addition to the displays of local dress and living quarters. It's low-budget - there are dolls in place of mannequins in some spots - but worth a look.

I found myself at the museum as part of a David Urquhart Travel excursion. I found this an interesting museum, particularly about the great flood in 1916. Some fascinating pictures and film of the flood which looked devastating. Great place to while away an hour or so and very attractively priced at just three Euros

I imagine that the vast majority of, mostly foreign, day-trippers are unaware of this little gem or, if they are, have no time to visit it. That is their loss! It packs a surprising amount of interesting information into a relatively small place and does so in a very entertaining manner. And anybody who has ever collected cigar bands will be in heaven...quite unexpected!

Very nice and tiny museum. The entrance fee is really affordable and worth it. The mozaic is quite impressive.

This museum shows the history of Volendam, the costumes and the fishing industry. There is a small historic street with shops, a classroom and the interior of a house.

When in Volendam, be sure to include a visit to the Volendam Museum. Located in the center of the village, the museum offers you two wonderful things: a glimpse into the daily lives of people who have lived in Volendam for many years, and two, a fascinating (at least for this Dutch-heritage couple from Michigan) look at the beautiful and unique Volendam Dutch apparel. Be sure to talk with the friendly and well-informed museum staff about the clothing of Volendam. Fascinating!

(5 volwassen)
