The bunker museum is situated in the dunes close by the harbour. The main bunker was closed for renovations but you can have a close look at the bunkers nearby which are worth a visit. You can even go inside. A shame that the bunkers...More

Incredible fortifications and exhibits. Lots of artifacts and memorabilia. Staffed and excavated by knowledgeable and friendly volunteers. Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate outerwear as you are on the Atlantic Wall !

This is no where near Ijmuiden unfortunately as it is well worth a visit. It is in Germany. It is free to go in. An interesting place to visit if you have a few hours before your ferry is the maritime museum in Ijmuiden. It is very near the ferry port. Don’t think this is a stuffy museum it is very interesting and actually has a radar with someone explaining what all the ‘blips’ on the screen are.
Hope this helps.
