The tour began in the visitors center with very interesting background information. We then proceeded on board the ship. Our guide there was entertaining as well. The town of Hoorn was also delightful

Despite the website, you don't have to reserve other than at very busy times. The ship is very small. There is very little to see. It is a replica made in the US mid-20th century. The tour guide could not cope with a multilingual group....More

I would NOT recommend visiting the Halve Maen ship or the heritage center, but it wouldn`t have to be like that. Actually the ship is quite nice and the exhibition ok. The problem is the staff that was extremely unfriendly and acted like tourists wanting...More

Going aboard the Half Moon helps you appreciate the amazing feats of courage and hardship that were endured by explorers like Henry Hudson Fortunately it's been modified so you can actually stand in places. A highly recommended bit of history.
