Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Two and a half centuries of beautiful meat trade... Who would have thought that the most beautiful building in the Northern Renaissance style on the Grote Markt was intended for the meat trade? However, it was for this purpose that this building was built according to the Levande Key project in 1602-1603. About 40 merchants sold meat to the residents of Haarlem until 1840. Then an archive was placed in the local apartments, then a library and finally a museum.

The red brick building of the old meat hall with its distinctive roof gables, Vleeshal, is one of the most attractive sights on the historic Grote Markt square. It is home to the Frans Hals HAL Museum now. It is only contemporary art on display there, but the ticket to the magnificent Frans Hals Museum is also valid for the Frans Hals HAL.

The Vleeshal is a historical building dating from 1603 and is located on the vibrant Grote Markt where there are lots of bars, restaurants and shops.

This was historicaly used predominantly as a meat hall. Due to high rent its changed purpose.

The e building is now used as an exhibition space.

Its great that this historical building has been preserved.

Haarlem is full of such old buildings with lots of character.

The museum was closed the morning we were there, but it is still an impressive building. Lots of intricate stone carvings.

Amazing building with great detail in the facades and roof. We didn't go in as we didn't have time but the old meat hall is definitely worth a look

Stunning building in a Dutch Renaissance style. The ox heads on the front of the building indicate its function as it was used for selling fresh meat.

We almost did not notice the Vleeshall because the amusement park on the plaza seemed to overwhelm all the surrounding structures.

The former Meat Hall is an architectural gem in itself. It now houses a very nice museum. The whole market on which the Vleeshal is located is super charming and interesting.
