Amsterdam is a city built around its canals. There are flowers everywhere and bridges at every turn. The canal houses, mostly built in the early 1600s are architectural gems and the best way to see them is by taking a canal tour on a boat....More

We have seen the canal belt from a boat and it was absolutely beautiful to see how people used to live. This is also recommended by bike.

We used the hop on and hop off canal boats and bus for a 24 hour period. The canal rings are a good way to see the city in a relaxed manor. Lots of very over priced house boats to see but also some views...More

We have walked around the canals, ridden in trams alongside the canals, sat in various canal tour boats and sat alongside many of the canals. There are markets, museums, bars, restaurants, churches, cafes etc alongside the canals. Enjoy the wildlife too, ducks, swans, herons, coots...More

The best way to see Amsterdam is by water. There are dozens of tours available. We took a number of guided tours which helped us to understand the history and significance of the area.

Able to experience a canal ride as part of tour. Didn't realize the integral link to Amsterdam history including building of the houses. Wonderful and relaxing at the minimum.

The views from the canals are charming and beautiful. Everyone who visits Amsterdam should take advantage of a boat ride on the canals.

There are several operators and we took the hop-on hop-off canal boat. It was. a good way to see the unique canal-based architecture, lifestyle and history of Amsterdam. Our kids loved it. We did too. The hop-on hop-off format worked for us. We took it...More
