Excellent place. Even better if you're on business trip, and find yourself a bit lonely. Mezrab and its owner, Sahand if i recollect his name, who is a performing artist himself and also the owner, waiter, and his family are the cooks, welcomes you with great hug of a friend. Perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself, while feeling like at home. And if you're lucky, you can drop on a story telling performance, and its usually the very best of it's kind in Amsterdam. Even if not too demanding, still an appealing art form, and after all what we are if not our inner story?

Nice place, with down to earth atmosphere - on the docks next to the river. Affordable drinks. Nice line-up of artists.

Went to see The Amsterdam Klezmer Band with their guest performers Klesmagic at this laid back friendly venue where the beer was cheap. The music was amazing, we had a superb night.

The improv there was some of the best I've seen, only second to the inviting atmosphere at Mezrab. The owner made us feel at home while giving us a great place to relax and unwind.

Mezrab feels a lot like a living room. A living room in which people tell funny, moving, or exciting true stories, perform music or improv comedy, or do some nude drawing. It's run by an Iranian family, the parents make really tasty soup, and the bar is run by volunteers. Entrance is usually free, donations are encouraged. All in all it's a fantastic atmosphere and a great place to meet interesting people.

The first time I came here was during a English Storytelling event since then Im here every event. On Friday's they have storytelling, hilarious improvisations, comedy and true stpry night. There is also music, Bulgarian bands nad Tunesian bands and all sorts of music that you won't find everywhere. But I like the most is the family vibe in Mezrab. Iranian Mom and Dad are always present and make the most delicious soup ever! Sahand and his brother Alborz welcome you with a big smile and a handshake and there are volunteers behind the bar. It is so easy to meet new people due to the long breaks between every set! I love ittt!!!!!

My favorite thing ot do though is come here early with friends on a Friday select a nice spot in the pillows and just relax before the show starts and stay as long as possible chichatting after the show. Most relaxing feeling ever :)

Going to the Mezrab gives you Amsterdammer cred. It's as diverse as the city itself, with storytelling (mostly in English), music, and dance. The music is better than anyone has a right to expect given the low prices -- it's joyous and thrilling. The storytelling ranges from first time tellers to professional comics trying out new and interesting material. I have no problem staying for 6 hours at a stretch, but I am who I am. I recommend making a night of it. There's usually good Persian soup on hand for low prices. It's good for most ages. Most audiences range in age from 18-80. You can go alone and feel right at home. If you're lonely, talk to the bartenders.

Mezrab is a great place for music, entertainment and laughs. The atmosphere is very open. Price are affordable. The music programming is always interesting and many people are up for a dance. A succesful and fun multicultural AMsterdam it is!

Mezrab is a fantastic place in a very interesting area in Amsterdam. There is music, storytelling and many more in a very familiar athmosphere. Nowhere else it's so easy to get in contact with a mostly international audience. Hanging out at the bar, listening to some live music or friday nights to a story - this makes this place unique in Amsterdam.

Don't miss it out.

It doesn't matter where you come from in the world Mezrab has a way of making you feel like you are home. From mama Mezrab making the soup, papa Mezrab in the kitchen and Sahand their son opening your world through the most beautiful stories - this is the place to discover new worlds.

With regular world music, story telling and comedy nights there is something for everyone. I regularly attend either alone or with others... I almost prefer going alone as these are the time I get talking and sharing anecdotes with so many interesting people.
