Nice place to walk in, it's close to the Cheese Museum, Pancake Bakery and Anne Frank's House. I recommend the visit.

What a great little market. Open Saturday's only - this is where the locals shop. Nice local food but the best stand is the oysters and Prosecco stand . They shuck the oysters right in front of you and the Dutch oysters were awesome. If you want to get away from the touristy markets this is a very nice place... More

This market had loads of random stuff: old, new, cheap, expensive..... I enjoyed most the food which also very different in taste and price. Plenty of organic options.

This is my favorite thing to do on a Saturday morning. There are actually 2 different markets - one is an organic market and the other is a regular market. I like them both. Interspersed are stalls selling antiques, used clothing, cheap new clothing and "junque." In April, bunches of flowers sell for such low prices because all the bulbs... More

We stumbled across this market when wandering the streets of Amsterdam trying to find our bearings on the the first day. We were lucky as I think it is only held on a Saturday but there was an amazing array of everything from cheese, herb, bread and flower stalls to artwork, fabrics and clothing & textiles. It is easy to... More

Every Saturday and it goes on for blocks and blocks. Also a nice mix of locals and tourists of all ages and types. I bought some bicycle bells, some pants, raspberries and a chunk of watermelon. My husband tasted a lot of cheese and sausages and olives.

I passed by here by chance while walking through the Jordaan en route to the Anne Frank Huis. Great place to get a peak into the lives of ordinary Amsterdam-ers as they go about their lives. The variety of goods being sold is extraordinary; from records to cheese to oysters, lobsters and even home made jewelry you can truly find... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
